Hey all,

Hoping to get some clarification. I bought a used predator cue on ebay (roadline LE3 with a vantage shaft) and noticed that there is no serial number on the shaft.

I know where to look for the serial number as I have a 314-2 for another cue (unless they changed were they mark the serial numbers)

The shaft looks like a predator, shoots like a predator but I am concerned about the lack of serial number. It doesn't look like someone tried to rub it off or anything.

My question is - have you ever seen a vantage (or new predator) shaft without a serial number? If so, what were the circumstances?

I am hoping it is just a dealer demo in which case I would be OK with it.

Thanks,

Chris

The only newer shafts that do not have a serial number are the ones made from partials,
or original finished ones that at some point had the collar or insert changed. All finished
Predator shafts have a serial number, some on the collar some on the insert.

Hello,

My name is KJ. I run Seybert's Custom-Shop and have been for 14 yrs. now.
In that time I have built literally 1,000s of Predator shafts.
I don't put a serial number on the shafts that I build.
The serial number is for registering a NEW cue to the original purchaser for warranty.
This is a used cue bought off eBay. There is no registering - there is no warranty.
Your concern appears to be, the absence of something that doesn't matter.

I believe the OP's concern is if it is genuine. Seems like a lack of a serial number doesn't mean that it isn't.....

Thanks for the info guys - this was a cue purchased from an ebay seller from the US.

KJ - Not sure if you were trying to come off as condescending but you did. I am happy with or without a serial number. I was not expecting to be able to register it for the warranty. What I am trying to do is make sure there is a reasonable explanation why there wouldnt be a serial number when I was expecting to see one. Although I don't think it is a knockoff or a stolen cue I would feel much better about it if I had a reasonable explanation.

It looks like the Vantage shaft my cue would need is not available for direct purchase from Seyberts - Needs a Uniloc radial thread and a thin black collar. KJ - If I wanted to buy a Vantage shaft for this cue:

Would you need to make it from a partial? If so, I think this answers my question.

Thanks,

Chris

What you consider 'condescending' was actually the most accurate and concise explanation
for why you have no serial number you could get. Please forgive my not being more gentle.

Thin collar Radial is a Predator standard. Since the Vantage shaft is still in the 'launch' stage,
Predator may not have ALL of the line ready for offering. It's likely not the most popular.
They do offer the thin collar Uni-QR. If someone requests a thin-collar Radial for 'right now',
that's where the Custom-Shop comes in. I would remove the Uni-QR insert. plug the hole with a
phenolic insert which is supplied to me by Predator and tap the hole for Radial.
Whether I do it or Predator does it makes no difference.
The completed shafts are indistinguishable from one another. They are identical and warranted.

Thanks for the detailed info KJ.

Your explanation was fine, my comment was referring to the last 3 lines which sound like they are dismissing my concern as irrelevant.
