"How does the leather wrap fare against the classic irish linen?"
How does it fare in what regard??? Longevity, sweat absorption, texture, what???
I'd suggest that you buy it & try it, then you'll know and won't have to rely on some else's opinion.
If you don't like the Lux-leather you can have it changed.
Should you have it changed, I'd suggest that you have it done by someone that knows what they're doing.
The Lux-leather is considerably thicker than linen and the wrap-channel will have to be addressed.
I work for Seyberts and I change these wraps on a semi-regular basis.
KJ
The Lux-wrap has plenty of texture but a bad choice for sweat.
Linen will absorb sweat, Lux won't.
It's a synthetic rubber of sorts over a canvas type cloth with a fiber mat mtrl under that.
All in all, it's about .043/.045" thick. Linen is .025" thick.
That's why I say the wrap-channel will need to be addressed.
Because of the need to build the wrap-channel and the additional work involved, there is also additional cost.
Oddly enough, Seyberts does not pass that additional cost onto the client. I'm serious, they don't.
You might want to consider this when deciding where to purchase. Call around, then you'll know.
The BLAK is a nice cue. I've got one chucked in my wrap-lathe right now for this very same procedure.
It's going to Wh w/blk speck. My choice would be Wh w/dbl.blk spec. but what do I know?
Good talking with you, KJ
I am considering buying a predator blak series cue, but all of them come with the leather wrap. I am used to playing with irish linen as i have a slight sweaty palm issue.
How does the leather wrap fare against the classic irish linen? Thanks.![]()
