Predator or Tiger shaft?

I am contemplating putting a new shaft on my Viking cue and was wondering what you guys recommend. Which do you like better the Predator or the Tiger shafts?

Thanks

I have a Tiger and I like it simply for the fact that its straight. (That's how easy I am) I think this will boil down to personal preference.

I've shot with both and I prefer the Tiger Ultra LD over the 314-2. The Tiger shaft is solid and can just get a better feel out of the cue. I'm a big fan of the Sniper tip, which comes on the Tiger shaft

Lovin' my Tiger Pro-X with Onyx tip.

The grain raised right away, but that was an easy fix. Ton of feedback and a traditional maple look with a super short white ferrule. Plays great.

You're welcome to call me bias if you like but you'd only be 1/2 right.
True, I do all of the custom work for the largest Predator dealer in the world but I've also been playing for 50 yrs.
I don't just build custom Predator shafts, I build them all. I get to look at them from the inside out;
a perspective the average casual player doesn't have.
Each of the many L/D shafts has it's own set of particulars including good points and weak points.
It's all about physics. Physics can be tweaked. As much as the laws of physics are a constant, so is the trade-off in the proposition of tweaking them.
As much as you gain on the front-end, you will lose on the back-end, figuratively speaking.

There is no magic bullet and there is no perfect shaft for everyone.
We all appreciate different qualities in a shaft and the number of different makers of these L/D shafts is testament to that.
I think it would be a mistake for you to have someone tell you which brand of shaft you should play.
You should play the shaft that best suits your game and has the characteristics that best suits you.

Oh, BTW, I play a 30-1/4" Gen1 314.

Good Luck in your search.

Ower here most of the Predator users has sold their shafts but kept their butts, and then migrated to Tiger. The reason is that the quality has gone down the drain according to them-shafts warp like a dogs bone and the companies anal sales policy has backfired at them litteraly shooting them self in both legs.
Personally I play with a OB shaft, but as KJ mention-it's a matter of personal preferences...

New Shaft

I would have to say if you take what Mr KJ said and add what Mr Newton said to it, you have some really good and accurate advice..Now the bashing can comence, but 4 out of the last 12 Predator shafts I've bought new have been warped...Maybe to much cosmoline to get them here without the brass turning green.....

Its a matter of personal Preference . I have used Preditor the most , I had a Tiger I liked a lot but when I sold the cue I had mated it to , it went away , i have installed and used OB-Classics , but never like them as much as the Preditor . Tiger and Preditor , I like both a lot . GL with seach . jim

I have to agree with the postings of KJ Cues, Newton and Jim Baxter. I have played with the three majors, Predator, Tiger and OB, plus also have used custom cue maker's own shafts. It is a personal preference that needs to be decided by you and you alone. I can tell you of the benefits of one shaft over the other, but that is my opinion. You need to shoot some racks with each brand of shaft to make up your own mind.

Good luck in your search for the holy grail. Make sure you purchase the shaft that has all the misses taken out by a good cue repair man ;).

But all kidding aside, just get out and take some shots. Go down to your local cue shop, and take some shots from thier "demo" cues. I know Predator supplies thier dealers with demo's as well as OB, I am not so sure that Tiger does, but someone here can pipe in to let us know.

Good luck

Headmuses.
