I am looking at buying a Predator 314(3) shaft for a schmelke sneaky pete cue (with a wood-wood unilock joint). There are several online stores that sell Predator shafts, so my question is whether I would need to have the cue sent in to match the shaft diameter, or do you just have to order one and hope for a close fit?

In my opinion it would be better to send your cue to them, but calling Schmelke and asking for their collar measurement and then comparing that number to yours may work also.

The Predator shaft will be around .843"

Check the Schmelke and see what it reads. Schmelke may also have these shafts in stock ready to fit your cue.

I just had a Schmelke make an R010 sneaky with a Uniloc joint with the intention of using an existing 314-2. There is a minor edge..... but acceptable. I can provide measurements and a close up picture if you want them.

Also have a Schmelke with a 5/16 -18 pin. Can provide the collar measurements also.

Be sure to check the cue joint diameter, I think Schmelke has a pretty large range in diameters. I once tried to order one in 5/16x14 so I could use an LD shaft on it and I requested a .840 joint diameter but they missed that part of my order and it came in .870 so it was nowhere near close to my shaft. Ended up returning the cue for that reason.

If you get a good match though, I think a Schmelke butt and a good LD shaft would make a great playing combo!
