I have the Predator 4x8 soft sport case. I've been using this for about 6 months. I love it for all the room it provides but there is a flaw with the design that i have not heard about online. It makes me think it is not a flaw but something i am missing.

The small pocket is mounted upside down. With the case standing up the opening is on the bottom. Anything in this pocket is in danger of falling out if not zippered up. In everything i have read, there is never any mention of this.
I know it is what you can say is a minor thing but i find it annoying.

This case was a big hit in my local pool club until i pointed out the small pocket. What is the reason for the small pocket to be mounted this way?

It's supposed to be a pocket for chalk. My best guess then is so that the chalk just falls out when you unzip the pocket rather than having to go in fishing for it and end up with blue finger tips.

This pocket holds more then just chalk. It would be a waste of space to use it only for chalk. I keep chalk in there along with some tip tools and burnishing pad. Small bottle of Advil (my poor aching back).

Butterfly cases are designed more to be used laying flat, like on the table. Notice how the cue compartments have flaps, making it difficult to access the cues when standing upright like a typical hard case. With that in mind, the pocket is not really upside down. With the pockets opening towards each other it is easier to see how much room you have left in each compartment as you stow your gear.

Maybe? :o

I agree except after you use the case and stand it up against a wall you better remember to zip it. Looking at other brands like Mezz's soft case 4x8 the pocket's opening appears to be on the top.
