I have a new molinari 3c cue w 2 Vantage 3c shafts. I had the tip replaced and now the ferrule is @ 1/2 mm smaller diameter right at tip, I believe these are the vtek ferrule, who do you recommend to replace the tip with Navigator blue impact carom tip and new predator ferrule and how much will it cost ? I am in the Boston area

What butcher shaved off 1/2mm during a tip install?? WOW

Thanks

It doesn’t matter who did what , I’m not here to start fights, I forget who did it , I would like to know who can fix it

You might contact KJ, here at AZB. He has a good deal of knowledge about Predator products. There are many capable folks for the job. However, I am unfamiliar with your area. Good luck.

If it's only the ferrule, it can be replaced by an authorized Predator repair shop. It won't be warrantied so you'll have to spend whatever a new factory ferrule costs.

If the wood was sanded, enjoy your new shaft diameter.

It definitely matters who did what, if they are a Predator partner then they should be known to the vendor as a hack. If other players take shafts to that person and get their stuff back butchered, that amnesia really sucks.

Not sure

I’m not sure if the ferrule sort of mushroomed or was sanded when tip was added, the person who did the job is a friend and very competent repairman and I don’t want to blame him, I was just asking estimates and who could do it

Agree. KJ certainly knows his Pred gear.

OK, KJ has not posted on here since 4/24/18. I have sent a few pm's and have not heard back....anyone have any info about how he is doing? Starting to get concerned

I have done several. I used Ivorine 4, pretty simple job.

Kim, You have replaced the Vantage ferrule that incorporates the Vault plate and silencer pad? If so, did you just do the ferrule, or does the vaultplate need to be done at the same time? What did you use as a silencer pad?
Any insight is appreciated as
I have only done the normal 314 ferrules, using isoplast.
Thanks.

I did not replace the Vault plate, just the ferrule, I was lucky enough to get a bunch of V-tek fibre pads from the local Predator dealer. I guess I could have gotten original ferrules from them too, but to me the Vantage, Z3 and 314/3 seems to have some sort of LBM type material, so I used Ivorine 4, I`ve done atleast 3 Vantage shafts, some of them have been used for a long time now and seems to hold up well. Nothing but positive feedback from the players and none of them felt that the shaft played differently after the ferrule change.

I have been curious about this as I have to do a non warranted 314-3 for a friend. If you cut the ferrule off as normal, does the vault plate extend up past the tenon flush? Does anyone have a picture of what the vault plate looks like without the ferrule?

Thanks Phil

The new "3" shafts don`t used the capped slip fit ferrules of the two previous generations. I`m terrible at remembering to take photos while repairing stuff, i`ve done all of these and that Vault plate for lack of a better term, is the tennon in these shafts.

Got it thanks! So is the vault plate like a solid T that fits inside the shaft like a replaced tenon would be?
