Predator vs McDermott

I am thinking of buying either a Predator Z shaft or a McDermott i-3. Could I get some opinions on which one you like best and why.
Thanks and God bless our troops.

the z shaft is 11.75 mm, thats something to think about, if you don't like that small a shaft. the mcdermotts come in different diameters depending on the model.

such a small shaft is the reason i haven't tried the z shaft. i'm going to buy a mcdermott next month. if no one else on here does a comparison between the two before hand i will post it.

thanks

Both shafts seem to be 11.75mm. He wants small shaft obviously. I use the Z shaft, but have never tried that i-3 thing, so I cannot comment on that although I read on some other forums that they feel nearly identical.

I just don't get one thing...how can a cue shaft be designed for a specific cloth speed?

I have been shooting with a Z for the past 8 months. I bought an I-3 3 weeks ago and have been using it since. IMO, they play identically deflection wise. Feel wise they were also very similar to me. The tip diameters are the same, but the I-3 has a much stronger taper. It looks completely straight from the tip to the joint. The Z has a tiny bit of a curve to it, so it is thinner in the bridge region. I'd say its a toss up between the two. One advantage the I-3 has is you can get it in any lenght and in any joint, where as teh Z only comes in 29 inches and Unilock.

I'll post a more lengthy comparison of them maybe next week, including pictures, taper measurments, and quality observations.

I placed an order with Seyberts a month and a half ago... still haven't got it . But in all fairness, it's not Seyberts fault. After two weeks of waiting I emailed them and they told me that it was backordered about 3-4 weeks. Hopefully I'll get it soon. I just wish they would have told me first that it was backordered.

McDermott Intimidator vs Predator 314

I have both and at first - couldn't tell much difference -however after breaking the tip in on the McDermott (they come standard with a Moori) I must say that the McDermott is fantastic. The McDermott comes in 3 different MM.... the 12.75 is their mid-size - hits like a dream. I ordered mine and received it two days later. If anyone is interested in purchasing one.. send me a private message, let me know what size you want and I'll price them right.
