Has anyone tried the smaller 11.5 z-shaft? Just looking for feedback. Thanks........

Yes, a lot of players on here use them. I'm far from a LD shaft lover and I hated the Z2 I've used, but if you're asking for the purpose of the shaft diameter... Then I liked the size for sure.

isn't the Z 11.75?
I haven't actually measured mine, but I thought that's what I remembered it being advertized as

I personally love it, btw. But it's definitely not for everyone

Thanks for the responses. The standard Z2 is 11.75 but Seybert's offers an optional shaft that is 11.5mm. It is an extra $30. I just worry a little about the finish after they turn it down whether it is the nice "factory" finish from Predator.

My cheap plastic caliper tells me mine is currently at 11.5 mm. Who knows if it started that way. :)

Anyway, there should not be any finish on the shaft (other than maybe a few inches from the joint). Don't let that part dissuade you.

Z shaft

I played with a Z shaft for about 2 years. When I started playing serious 14.1 straight pool I went back to my 314 shaft. Less miss cues and easier to control the cue ball. I loved the feel of the Z shaft but did not play that well with it.

I had two of them a few years ago, but had to sell them both. Best shafts I ever owned for moving the cue ball around with, but I couldn't hit a long, straight-in shot in at all.

Maniac (now prefers a 12.75mm diameter)

I love my Z-2 shaft; I don't have calipers, but I'm certain it's no longer 11.75mm. I quite happily play with my OB-2 as well... very little difference between them. As someone else mentioned if you're looking for more than just general feedback let us know.

I have played snooker for 5 years shooting with 9 mm shaft, and pool for next 30 years using small 11.5 mm shaft (not Z-shaft) and was controlling squirt very nicely at all speeds, finally the ferrule broke beyond repair, i switched to 12.75 mm, my none english shots were much more accurate to where i aim than with my 11.5 mm shaft, but obviously english shots are worse but i got used to it. With me shooting now with much less english than i usually do i favor the 12.75 mm (1/2 way between 11.5 and the 13 mm shafts). With any cue you have to know two things its pivot point, and its magic elevation point (elevation that cancels squirt) mastering these is essential for consistency with good focus you got it made.

I think i will do like Grady Mathews he has two cues that he was switching between them, when english shots comes up he uses low squirt shaft, and when no or a little english he used his regular shaft. Billy Incorona probably can tell us exactly why he was switching cues many years back.
