Will post some more pics when I get home from the hall.
Mike Webb made this beauty.
I won't go and tell how many tons it hits because apparently if you like how a cue plays and you sell it later you get in trouble around here.
I was only going to sell my Tibbitts because I was finally going to get a Sugartree made for me - which is all I ever really wanted. It was going to happen but then it just didn't. Again.
So I decided to flip around a little anyways.
I'll just say that I'm VERY pleased and you can believe the good reviews you hear about Mike's cues on here. I got SUPER LUCKY with the specs on this cue. I regret selling just two of the cues I've sold in the short time I've been into custom cues. One for the looks, and the other for how damn well it played for me.
The one I regret selling and have actually had dreams about getting back (which I won't, the buyer will never sell
) is the Sugartree bumperless hoppe I had. The way the cue hit, the balance, the weight, everything was absolutely perfect for me and I strongly believe I did play a ball better with that than my other cues.
Anyways I say I got lucky because this cue's weight is only .2 ounces different than that Sugartree, with the exact same balance point. The hit is even remarkably similar. I'm beyond thrilled with it.
I'm going to buy at least two cues from Mike and maybe one for the Misses.
I'm going to send the cue back to Mike in a month or two for him to add some abalone/paua shell inlays. I'm thinking ivory spear tips with paua shell inside on the end of the points. This is a 2001-2002 cue and Mike said his pre-2005 or 2006 I think cues have slightly uneven points. This will even them up perfectly.
Paua shell peacocks in the base of the points, and maybe some diamonds inside the buttsleeve diamonds, or some other paua shell inlays in between the diamonds in the buttsleeve. What do you guys think? What would you do to add some abalone/paua in the buttsleeve?
Was also thinking about doing little diamonds and dashes or squares in the ring above/below the wrap.
Does anyone know what kind of wrap leather this is? I really like it. I may change it to grey elephant though. My favorite color wrap is dark brown/chocolate brown but I don't think it works on this cue unfortunately.
