I would trust 99% of the regulars users on this forum enough to send them any form of payment. I would say Paypal or Postal Service M.O. would probably your 'safest' methods. If someone scams you, it's usually pretty difficult to get your money back regardless of the method.
I think the best way to hedge your bet would be to ask for references.

I buy a lot of things on ebay etc...most forms of payment are paypal or Cashiers check. Communication is the key. I've only been burned once in about 120 transactions.
Just bought a cue from a forum member. Didnt hesitate to send him a cashiers CK, transaction went smooth as silk. Im very pleased with the cue. "Thanks Chris"

Leonkush .. I've done a lot of transactions on the board. The payment depends on level of comfort with whom you are dealing with. I've shipped cues before payments on words that payment is in the mail. I've waited to verify the money order with the post office before shipping if I don't know the person or the person's reference.
I've paid 99% of the transactions using PayPal ... to avoid the fee, I make e-check payment through PayPal which cost the seller only $5 fee. Only thing is it takes 3-4 business days for the payment to clear (it's like writng a cyber check). Sometimes I make instant payment if that is the seller's requirement .. then I have to consider entire payment (including full/partial or no 3% fee and shipping) as purchase price.
There are some people I trade/sell/buy with that ships when we make e-check payment as we have confidence level that the payment will clear. Some will wait until payment clears.
It's about comfort level of whom you deal with and the reputation of the person.

I have sold a bunch of stuff on this Forum. Took Checks, MO's, Wire Transfers, and a Guy even Trusted our Uncle with CASH in the Mail.
Even sent stuff the day a Personal Check arrived from several Regulars, and only had O N E Promissed Check NEVER ARRIVE...
99.99% of the Folks on this Forum, as 100% Good. IMO....
Do not do Pay Pal, as I am in the Stong Age with No Cell Phone, ATM Card, or Credit Cards I truct to Pay PAL....
As they are Anti Second Amendment....
