Our son lives in Florida and has an opportunity to buy an 8' Pro Line table for $500.00. Table looks new but I know little about the pockets and rails. Seller says it is two piece 1" slate. Could someone tell me if this is a good table -- close to competition level?
All the pro line tables I see out here in California are three piece slate. I used to work for a local company 2 years ago I installed close to 20 of them look real nice play great but never had to go back and recover or move any so I dont the life of the table. I remember the wood backing was soft and glued on some pieces feel off @ the time we stored them outside with a tarp over the slate. Slate has a 1\4" radius lip and slanted or beveled cut out in the slate. Nice hardware fake ivory and abalone sights in the fancy rails all in all i think its an upgrade from an Imperial brand table
$500 good price just a notch above wholesale by the container load. I believe pockets are big i'm used to 4" pockets. Maybe some one else might have some current info on them I can cruise by the old shop and take some snap shots of them for you with a ruler and some balls to give you a better idea of the table.
I have worked on a few of these tables. I have built subrails for them in the past. I would say they are fine for a home table. The price seems to be reasonable. You also might want to add the fact that you are going to have to pay some one to tear it down and set it up. Every one i have worked on has been a three piece slate and i would have to say the seller is mixed up about that. The last one i worked on was refelted three times, so i would say it held up for a while. I think as long as it is in the correct area and taken care of you would be fine.
