PRO ONE DVD: Answering Questions

Then answer this- a person has a lot of trouble making shot X. Using a system, their percentage of making it goes way up. If the answer was "feel", then where was their "feel" before? The system (any system) is not going to add "feel" to the shot.

As far as never missing- just because you now know where to aim, doesn't mean that you are going to stroke straight. There's more to making a ball than just aiming.

IMO, on shots like these, I think it's more of the system putting the person in line with the shot better.

I think there's too many moving parts not to have some subconscious adjustments.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in basic CTE they specify different bridge lengths based on how close you are to the object ball, but Pro1 doesn't follow these same adjustments, you just fall on the shot correctly? I think there is "feel" in these moves in Pro1.

Lol, I'm just starting to learn CTE/Pro1 so give me a few months and I might be back saying that there isn't any "feel" in the system :D

Let me help. "Visual intelligence". Used by all, understood by few.

Feel as it relates to pool, other aiming systems and CTE/Pro One needs to have a definition.

After using CTE/Pro One, I have precisely locked into place where I am going to shoot the cue ball (I AIMED), of course I make adjustments based upon whether I am going to utilize side spin and I "feel" that but I think many people are using the word feel to mean "guess" about where they are aiming and that's not what you do with CTE/Pro One, at least that's not what I do.

I "AIM" a specific direction based upon combining the CTEL, the AIMING POINTS, and the pivot whether it is manual or falling into the correct bridge hand placement (Pro One). I'm not guessing or "feeling" that. It is finite and precisely accurate. AFTER, I lock onto the target I may decide to adjust my aim based upon many different factors just like I do with any other aiming system.

I think it will help people to understand CTE/Pro One if people quit talking about the egg shells of any aiming system and simply stick with what they know how to do, as it relates to CTE/Pro One.

This and others threads are primarily designed to help people learn how to use it, not to split hairs and disparage it and while I feel that isn't your "aim", it seems to be the case for others.

I don't like the "lights" aiming system but I don't waste my time going around saying that it is for knuckleheads who don't really understand that it doesn't work the way they say it works.

Most people seem to be "getting it" as they invest more time into trying to use it, just like any other aspect of pool.

Dang, you make too much sense for a CTE advocate.

Wait, according to the standard definition of the term, you MUST be a naysayer if you think there is any "feel" in these systems. If you don't immediately cease with your heretical teachings and repent, you will be excommunicated by the CTE faithful.

Why can't daphish1 be a Neutralite, like me? Our group is small, but we have a lot of fun! :p

It's definitely not "precisely accurate". I know this because the CTEL, aiming points and pivots only define 6 "precisely accurate" aiming instructions for each direction, which isn't enough to make all shots.

I don't know what you mean by "finite".

Can't think of a particular shot, but there's been some shots when you might think its a pivot to the left but it's really a pivot to the right. It's an undefined variable and I'm subconsciously adjusting for these pivots (at least getting to this point).

Also, I think doing Pro1 pivots are done by "feel".

Another example is banking. You go to any different table and they will bank different. If you lined up the same shot on different tables and hit it the same way, it's not guaranteed to drop. Banking balls has so far been the hardest adjustment for me in adopting Pro1.

What happens when you are experienced and you know when its a left or right pivot? what happens when your experienced and a pro1 pivot becomes a natural part of your pre shot routine? Sometimes you have to make an adjustment on banks depending on the bank.

this is about the tenth time we have explained this to this guy. You are in a 45 degree offset body position to the cb and ob line, so when a ball is moved you will pick up a new outer edge on the ob thus giving you a new cut angle every time. You cant explain this any easier than this? what a waste of time this guy is.

I think he still has you on ignore champ.

I know and Lou also and thanks for the quote brother! i still have to let others know the facts and cant let this guy post his nonsense and influence wannabe future cte/pro1 users because he was incapable of learning cte/pro1 and tries to pass himself off as the only guy that knows what he is talking about when it comes to cte/pro1. He acts like he's a teacher or something grading/correcting every post in here but doesnt know how to shoot any cte system  I think we should all put him on ignore also and finally teach this guy the meaning of respect, decent social skills!

I actually enjoy Patricks contribution on other subjects. It just seems like he has a personal grudge on this subject.

If you ever call Hal ask him about Patrick. He has a few stories to share I think you would find very entertaining.

I would be nice if he would back something up with fact or take it to the table and prove any points he keeps repeating and not just claim we are all wrong wft! The dude owns a pool table and the dvd and portrays himself like he has all this superior pool knowledge and is intellectually superior than everyone and yet he still can not understand the visual part of the system let alone make a ball and he tries to tell people how, what and why about cte?

My "personal grudge" is directed at the "personal affection" CTE users seem to have for posting misinformation. For the record (once again) the "offset stance" excuse is brainless nonsense.

That would be a good trick, considering we've never met or corresponded.

More misinformation from CTE users...

Have you worked with the system enough to give an opinion on how much of an adjustment is needed to pocket balls at given distances? Are we talking millimeters? Microns? Or are you just speculating again?

The story from Hal has to do with a regular at Chris's billiards in Chicago. If you don't play there maybe it's a different Patrick Johnson.

Why deal in facts when you can just throw insults and declare something is "nonsense" without anything to back it up.

Ez<--- soon to be on ignore ;)
