Pro taper vs conical taper on deflection?

I am getting my standard maple shaft turned down to 11.75mm and also getting a shorted lightweight Ferrell installed on it in effort to reduce deflection.
I am wondering if I should have him put a pro taper on the shaft or keep the current conical taper? I know the pro taper will have a little more flex most likely. I am wondering if the flex of the pro taper would result in lower deflection than if it had a conical taper?

It really depends on how you hit your typical CB.
hard (powerfully); conical taper,
lots of spin; pro taper.
neither; something in between.

Awhile back a had a spare Schon shaft that I had taken down to about 12.4 mm from the standard 13 mm and quite frankly didn't like the hit of it. I guess I had put somewhat of a pro taper on it as it really didn't taper down much the last 8". While the hit was ok and still shot fine it was somewhat muted when you think of what most Schon shafts hit like. It was bugging me, so being a spare shaft, I decided to experiment a bit.
I decided to taper the last 7- 8" down another .012, so brought it down to a little over 12.1mm. What a difference, much more firm hit, I really liked it for my style. So slightly skinnier shaft at the tip but hit firmer being smaller than when it was fatter.
It was really telling as to when people talk about how a cue makers shafts hit in that with a very small taper difference can make such a change in the hit of a cue.

I've found that conical shafts trend to be sensitive to how long your bridge is. With a Z I need to compensate a lot more with a longer or shorter than normal bridge. Don't need to do it as much with a pro taper 314.
I'd guess that I'd feel the same between the 12.4 and 11.8 Revos.

11.75 mm with a long, pro-taper, is more like a fishing pole that a pool cue.

Probably difficult to keep from warping? A guy was wanting to sell a Mali to me with a 11.75mm pro taper and the shaft was not true. I rolled the entire cue on a table and it was so out of line it was silly. It did remind me of a fishing pole a bit. I have larger hands and am more comfortable with 12.75mm.

The shaft will probably deflect more if you put a pro taper on that shaft. I would think it's going to be very floppy

Why mess with a good shaft? Just buy a low deflection shaft for your cue. Way simpler and you have the original shaft intact.
