need some info and feed back, I may be able to do this at this years 4 Bears 8ball classic tournament.
It all depends on what kind of pros you want, what kind of format you will run, and where you are.
If its an invite only tournament, you will probably have to add more money because the prize fund is smaller. An open tournament will have a larger prize fund and attract more players, but it will also take longer and the pros might not draw each other until the last few rounds.
To attract world class pros, you would probably need world class money unless they live near you or you have connections. A top prize of $10,000 would probably bring in anybody you want from the western hemisphere and possibly some from Asia and Europe. Scale down from there.
If you fill the field with local pros and shortstops, you could probably get away with a first prize of $1000 or less provided the entry is not too high.
8 ball on valley bar tables is not really the game of choice for pros, but if you supply the money, they will play whatever you want. I'm not sure what a reasonable race would be as 8 ball on valleys is a litteral crap shoot for the pros, but the longer the better.
As far as entry goes, its up to you, but pros generally favor a higher payout over lower entry fees.
You should probably try to pay at least 1/3 of the field, more if it is invite-only.
