So I just finished watching the IPT World 8-Ball Championship match on TV. I was flipping between channels watching football and there it was on NBC. I found it interesting pool, but now understand the comments about Kevin Trudeau in the announcers booth
. Now to the problem. After the match I went to the TV listings to see how I had missed the coverage. It turns out the program was listed as a "PAID PROGRAM". This is what all infomercials get listed as, and I feel this is not an ideal situation. If future IPT broadcasts are listed as PAID PROGRAMS (which I suspect they all will be, Deno ? I asked this before but do not believe that you answered), most people will have one heck of a problem finding the time and channel using conventional methods (print media TV listings).
A second point, the advertising. In the broadcast I saw there were two commercials, one for Natural Cures book, and the other for Sigel DVDs. I wonder if they will be running the same ad when they broadcast the Sigel-Reyes final. My point ? Who's going to buy DVDs by a guy who is getting absolutely blasted on the pool table. People want to buy DVDs from winners, not huge loosers.
Please folks, recognise that these comments are my opinions on how the general public will view things, not the pool fanatics like those who read AZBilliards. As the IPT has stated, the target audience is the masses.
