Proficient Billiards Cue Repair - Great Service

I took the advice of an AZBilliards forum post to send my cue to Proficient Billiards out of Ephrata PA for repairs, and I couldn’t be more happy I did so.

I called and told them what I needed repaired (stripped shaft threads on a custom jump cue) and they gave me a price to get it repaired over the phone, and how to ship it in. I think the actual repair only took 1 or 2 days because it was back shipped out to me almost as soon as it got there.
I just got the repaired cue back today and the threads are perfect, and I couldn’t be more happy with the repairs.

If you need any cues repaired I would definitely recommend them.

Anyone ever been to their shop? I wonder what it is like and the number of employees. Always treated me great.

He doesn’t let you in. I dropped off a 4 point black boar in person maybe 20 years ago and asked if I could see the shop. He said no, he doesn’t let anyone inside. Idk if he’s changed that policy since then.

I got the cue back about a week later with a flawless refinish and wrap.

I think it was a one man operation then. Probably still is is my guess.
 
I can only speculate on his amount of business by what I read here, but, from what I can gather, if he is only a one man show, his organizational skills are somewhere north of amazing. I cannot imagine -- the receiving, packaging, and shipping alone would cripple one person. Plus, anyone ever heard of a lost/misplaced cue at Proficient? Also never heard of long, or extended, promise dates. It appears to always be bang, bang, bang and another excellent job results. He could give much needed lessons to more than a few fabricators.

He let's you in now but asks that you have an appointment. They have a little retail shop there with good prices.

He has at least one assistant. A friend drove up a couple years ago and had some work done on a cue. Having said that, Scot is amazing and can do whatever you need for a cue.

Agree. He did a refinish on a Palmer of mine that was flawless. The very rare Second Catalog Model C. It's in the archives, as I actually put up cue pictures. I would recommend Scot over anybody else.

He's good people.
Spent about an hour with him there.
Just normal conversations.
He's very involved in his community, Ephrata, PA.
Loved his dog that spent it's days in the shop. Nice pup, bully. Met him twice.
Don't remember the pups name but he's since passed and Scott has a new bully.
I follow Proficient on FB.
Scott posts there often.
You'd enjoy his posts.
He posts his refinishes often.

Yep, I check his website often. He restores cues like nobody else. It can be a regular cue, McDermott, etc, or it can be valuable, Bushka, Szamboti, etc. Scot does it all, and does it very well. He takes on old cues, which I like too. He did a restoral on a Paradise Diamond cue that I would lust over. Scot is the best.
