IPT assures Bata of his prize

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Kevin Trudeau, founder of the tremendously successful International Pool Tour, has assured Efren “Bata” Reyes, winner of the recent World Open 8-Ball Championships, as well as the other players, that their checks will be issued very soon.

Reyes defeated American Rodney “The Rocket” Morris in the finals of the grueling eight-day tournament to pocket the top prize of $500,000. Reyes himself had earlier said he was not worried about non-payment of his prize money since Trudeau had paid him the $200,000 he won in last December’s King of the Hill tournament and over $60,000, which he won in the North American Open, where Marlon Manalo finished second to Thorsten Hohmann and received his prize of $99,000.

Trudeau’s commitment to pay the players their prize money came in the wake of a concerted effort to put down the IPT which, since its inception last year, has been extremely successful.

Trudeau himself, in a letter to the players, a copy of which was forwarded to Viva Sports/Standard Today, wrote that the IPT, from its inception, has had “its share of people who enjoy spreading false negative gossip about the IPT. These prophets of doom look for anything they can point to as negative.”

Trudeau said the IPT has been more successful than virtually all other billiard tournament promoters and associations combined.

“To date we have paid out more than $3.5 million in prize money to players,” said Trudeau.

The IPT founder said the delay in sending the players checks was “unavoidable due to a multitude of factors, most notably the finalization of the acquisition by Ho Interactive” and that the exciting merger/acquisition will be formally announced soon.

If KT wants to prove all of the "prophets of doom" wrong...then he should just pay the money. Pretty simple.

Who are the "prophets of doom" they refer to?

Surely they are not reading the AZB message board.

What prophets of doom? I haven't seen a negative word yet in regards to the IPT in these forums. So who else could he be refering to?

If this merger does not go through with Ho, does KT still intend to honour the players with cheques? The merger surely must be happening I couldn't imagine he would say these things if he didn't mean it. ;)

Thirty days have passed since Reno.

Man that went fast. It seems only days ago I posted there were 100 days until Vegas.

One thing for sure, the IPT staff sure is disciplined to maintain secrecy for this long. We get more leaks out of the CIA than we do from the IPT.

You know! I have to agree. Not even a word of reasurence from Deno. It's sort of ignorant for keeping people in the dark and then to call prophets of doom to anyone who ask questions.

Maybe if there were dialog from the IPT we wouldnt have to ask questions.

I suspect the next time you hear from Deno it will be a statement that he is no longer associated with the IPT.

Actually you & Jake are incorrect. Both Deno and Lindsay have talked... they've both told anyone who was able to reach them that "the checks are going out tomorrow" or "the checks are going out in a few days"

This may very well be true but not for the reasons you may think.

I know, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything but I just couldn't resist. If anything comes of it I'll elaborate to the best of my knowledge. I could very well be wrong so I don't want to say anything. ;)

That was the 1st excuse, which was followed by the checks will be mailed soon. Then there was the IRS paperwork excuse followed by the checks will go out in a few days.... then they gave up on excuses and simply told people that the checks are going out in a day or so. Last I heard that anyone heard out of Deno or Lindsay was... On Thur Sept 28th Lindsay said the checks were being sent out FedEx the following day. The next day Deno told someone else all the players would have their checks by early next week. That Sat or Sun KT made his little announcement.... Simply pathetic.

Profits of Doom

On a side note...wouldn't "Prophets of Doom" make a great name for a band? Ladies and Gentlemen the moment you all have been waiting for...singing their smash hit..."The cheques are in the mail"....The Prophets of Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom.

Is it because the CIA does,in fact, exist:rolleyes:

No it doesn't. You saw NOTHING ;-)

BTW I think having Deno "Babyface" Andrews run off to Bolivia with all the money makes the most sense of anything I've heard so far. Of course this whole thing is probably just one protracted setup so KT can sell the movie rights for the whole thing to Hollywood and make some real money.
