proper balance point?

I measured my Scruggs, it has a BP of 19.1" from the butt, buttcap excluded. My Falcon JB has a BP of 19.7" from the butt, after removing a half ounce weight bolt.

I guess I like front heavy cues, though my grip is usually at the butt sleeve, I'm 6'5". My feel is that gripping near the BP is good for your draw (etc.) but bad for your speed control. I find my style giving a good speed control but sometimes I don't get enough action on the cueball.

Anyone tried playing with a grip on exactly at the balance point ?

I remember reading somewhere that Willie Mosconi grips his cue almost right at the balance point at a position very close to the front of the handle. Is that true? Has anyone seen him play?

By the way, what about the relationship between a preferred baalnce point to that of the taper. Do you think a shorter taper would go with one particular balance point and the longer taper another?

Thank you.
