Proper Way to Transport and Store Slate?

Hi all, hoping to get some guidance from the pros, what is the best way to transport slate, flat or standing and strapped to tie downs? Also, when storing slates, what's the best way to store them? Standing vertically or flat?

Either is fine. When I get slates by the container from Italy they are on edge, from Brazil...laid flat. Transported in a P/U truck or van I lay them flat. If your moving and using a box truck I would stand them up and strap to the wall. Storage...either is fine, but vertical takes less apace.

I transported my slates flat with slats between them to keep them supported.

Then stored them upright against a wall for a few months until the room was ready.
