Properties of ebony

Hello everyone! How would you guys compare ebony to maple? which one is harder and provides a stiffer hit? I mean if the butt of the cue is ebony/maple. Shaft is always gonna be maple.

just my personal opinion, a gaboon ebony would give you a firmer hit as compared to a maple
but your asking for stiffness, then the shaft would have to be put into test here

Ebony is much harder, stiffer and heavier than maple.

Ebony is also more dense than maple and produces a much harder hit.

Ebony is much harder, stiffer and heavier than maple.

Heavier is the operative word. You want to be sure the overall weight and balance is where you want it. May have to be cored, to get the weight where you want it.
