All of the information I can find about this wood indicates it would be an excellent cue-building wood, yet I have only seen a handful of cues built with it over the 6ish years I've been on this site. I ordered one from Starkey, but it was cored. I think he cores everything, but I'm not 100% sure.

So, for those cuemakers who have played/experimented with it before, what is it like? Is it suitable as a core? Does it need to be cored?

Thanks in advance.

mesquite

is a excellent wood to use for cues, but is a bit light and a bit soft for my standards, i believe it should be cored, purple heart and maple laminated dowels are my favorites.
