What are the pros and cons of traditional mitered veneers and recut splices? Which are more difficult to execute? Interested to hear your opinions.

Gluing in recuts should be stronger since it can be glued in under more pressure. I would say recuts and mitered veneers are about the same in difficulty. It just depends on how your equipment is set up. The skill taken to achieve either is not as much as how accurately the machiney is set up. The right tooling is the key to either. I personally use the butt joint or what I refer to as the wrap around method for gluing veneers, and I can glue everything with a lot of pressure. I feel this is stronger than mitered veneers.
