Actually Tony I shoot the shots which are best to show whatever concept I am discussing. I shoot a lot of shots in my videos. Sometimes they progress from easy to harder.

When I make a video it's because I want to work through a concept. Not that I want to show off. Sometimes I will do a drill on a challenge to see how I can do with it, sometimes I will do one to challenge myself. Even my very first CTE video, called Finding the Aiming Line I shot a couple challenging shots, similar to the ones you have on some of the videos below. The difference is that when I shot them on that video I did it in ONE take and never having tried those shots with CTE before. I didn't know if they would go or not I just felt that I had figured out CTE at that point by reverse engineering it and that because of that I felt like the shots should go. (turns out I wasn't quite there on how to find the shot line but what I was doing works pretty good actually)

Are you using ghost ball?

Just asking because the title of this thread is Prove CTE is better than Ghost Ball.

So, is this your entry for that question?

Edit. I went and tried your drills and of course I didn't do as well as you. But that got me thinking as I watched your videos......you don't teach anything. You show off and then say something like "learn the table, the pockets don't move" or some other cryptic stuff like that. You allude to using systems but won't say what they are so in effect your videos, while impressive displays of shotmaking, are kind of useless.

I do like some of your editing though and your effects. They are cool. I don't have time for that stuff so my videos go up uncut warts and all.

There is no way to prove one is better than another, why....the human factor.

For either method to be used the best they can be requires human performance. A person in other words. It is the person the makes either method effective,

Just a example of how useless it is to try to prove something when human preference is involved.

So your question was asked even though you think it can't be proven? Why? Just trolling I guess.

And you are wrong,

While the shooter's skill and spatial ability is certainly a part of it in all sport there are methods that work better than others and all athletes know this.

Here is one for you, packing. Do you know what that is?

It's how to fill your lungs with much more oxygen than they normally hold for the purpose of deep diving in the ocean. All Free Divers use this technique to go to incredible depths. There is no alternative method that depends on the diver.

In pool it's not a matter of life and death though and you do have several methods but it's easy to prove which ones are comparatively better. It's called shotmaking tests.

You can easily take the same shot making tests and drills and use all the methods that you know how to use and determine for yourself what works better. Empirically we could have a lot of people take the tests and compare the results. A control group could be found that plays by pure feel, another that swears on Ghost Ball and still another that uses CTE.

Why disprove any Aiming Methods?
Why Prove Ghostball is better?
why argue on something when you know that it will be useless to prove when human intervention is involved?

Isn't it a fact that any method of approach in billiards (aiming, kicks, banks & etc.) requires human preferences?
so therefore, this thread "Prove CTE is better than Ghost Ball" is a failure as a test for the reason that (according to you) "There is no way to prove one is better than another, why....the human factor."

It really is a failure in logic and reality when you ask something/anything under the sun, when you know that every effort(answer) is futile.

Agreed. That was a b*llsh*t race to 3 anyway. Both Joey Gray and Landon Shuffett were making great kicks in that first rack. Joey's one mistake -- only one -- was when he tried to masse around a long string of balls to hit the object ball, but the cue ball "bit" into the cloth too early and fouled into another ball. That was pretty much it from there.

You can't say this was a demonstration of Joey's aiming system getting outplayed. Joey only had one clean shot the whole match -- a push that was given back to him by Landon -- and Joey nailed that long 2-ball all the way down the rail. But he snookered himself on the next ball, and that's where the aforementioned kicking game began, which Joey lost. From there, Landon did what was expected of him -- break well, and run out.

I'm fairly sure if Joey had ball-in-hand he'd have similar results. Joey's a stout player, and in this hokey race-to-threes, he's just as capable of putting a match-package together like Landon did.

Actually what I said is that I don't know WHY I wasn't hitting the object ball on the thin cut. My theory is that for that shot there was an optical illusion in play.

Before I start this part of the discussion I want to point out that what you see me do in the video is not doctored in any way. When I shoot these videos it is an off-the-cuff exploration of concept.

What I intended to show using the think cuts with the GB template was NOT that the ball would be unhit. What I thought would happen is that a pure GB aim would result in undercutting the shot and that I would then go back and manually adjust the template to adjust for that. Thus showing that using the GB method required a lot of manual adjustment even when using a template.

I did not expect to miss the ball.

Ok, so at 3:48 is where I try the first shot. If you go FRAME BY FRAME you will see that the cue ball appears to roll over the arrow point perfectly. You will also see that my stroke is dead straight. FRAME BY FRAME.

So the aiming to the point was correct, the stroke was correct. It's possible that the template was incorrectly placed. I go and correct that on the next shot and miss the ball again.

When I go from the thin cuts to the shallow ones then rolling over the point works.

So again my conclusion is that the template on thin cuts is not useful because it introduces some sort of visual illusion. On paper one would expect it to work but in real life it does not appear to work. An adjustment would have to be consciously made.

I the arrow. Not my favorite tool for Ghost ball. The spider, though expensive, is not only really good for ghost ball, but also shows the tangent line. Of course these are all practice tools, not game tools.

The first one who can't top the other guy's run in a week loses $100. Have to post video proof. Can be from any time in your life. So if you have an archive of runs stored up you can win an easy bennie.

You up for that? I'd like a little motivation.

I would invite Duckie as well but I ran two balls today and I think that puts him out. :-)

Thanks, but Like I said before I am a B player and not your speed, you already saw my best. If you really want i do have a couple of guys that would do it with you. Nobody around here uses "real CTE" so it would be to your advantage.

I should have added text to that link. I was only trying to show how Landon demonstrates how Fluent Pro-One can be, that's all. Joey is a great player and
can beat anyone on any given day.
