Purchased a shaft burnisher, too rough?

Looking forward to applying my wood wax to my shaft to get that smooth surface back. Purchased a shaft burnisher to prep for the wax. Was using a scotch pad before to clean my shaft. The burnisher seems more abrasive than the scotch pad, am I worried for nothing?
 
Wow! Would not have expected that Renegade. Purchased an Ogrmar Burnisher Cue Shaft Cleaner, product states "lightly-abrasive pad" which looks like copper mesh inside. Looks abrasive and would seem to remove a lot of material. New to burnishers. I'm a worry wart :p

Not to say burnishing does not change size, it does, but not by cutting. It actually packs and hardens the surface it's applied to. So in this instance, burnishing helps prevent mushrooming, as well as the obvious improvement cosmetically.
