Purchasing a new J/B cue

Ok, here is the deal. I am going to buy a jump/break cue. I weighed out the odds of having a normal cue, break cue, and a jump cue, but realized that a combo cue will work for me. I have narrowed my choices for a J/B down to 3.

1. Lucasi JB2000
2. Sledgehammer
3. Bunjee JB

From what I have read so far, I am leaning towards the Lucasi. I have friends that say the Lucasi jump cue works really well, but noone I have talked to has hit the jump/break. I read that it breaks the balls well, and the jump portion works well. I have been able to find it online for 129.00 or so a number of times.

The Sledgehammer is the bigger name obviously, and has a nice price tag around 300.00 give or take some depending on where ya buy it. I kinda like the looks, but to pay 2/3's more for a cue will be hard to sell to my wife. :)

The Bunjee JB I dont know alot about, but I have read that the jump portion is comparable to the Bunjee Jump Cue of which I really liked and had success with. For that reason, I put this cue in the list. I dont like the plain look, but would settle, since looks arent the important thing. I beleive this J/B is 150.00 or so.

With all that rambling, what are some of your thoughts on Jump Break cues. Should I just get the Lucasi?
 
To answer your question, yes I know how to jump, and can jump with my playing cue, from a distance. Its a Predator, therefore the shaft doesnt allow the short distance jumps. If I need to jump now, I grab a house cue. Doesnt help at some tourneys in hotels where they dont provide extra house cues around. I am getting a J/B more for the break cue, but would like to be able to have a jump cue in my arsenal incase kicking isnt possible.
 
I would suggest getting the Sledgehammer. I think they are one of the best break/ jump cues out there. I got mine on ebay really cheap. I could never jump a ball before I got the sledgehammer and after I got I had no problem jumping balls. Its an awesome cue but its hard to keep chalk on the phrenolic tip.
 
go to www.fostercues.com and order one of his jump breaks. Thats who i got mine from and i have never hit any break so good in my life. It also jumps better than a Bungie. Specify the weight and the shaft width (id recommend 14mm Semi-Pro Taper). In my opinion there is nothing better out there. You would be looking at around $375 CA plus a little for shipping. Still Cheaper than the sledgehammer and very nice looking. Looks alot like the plain cue that Efren plays with.
 
actually if you talk to don purdy on the boards he sells the seldgehammer for 300 plus shipping and its a lot better cue
 
I bought a sledgehammer about 2 months ago. I love the 1 piece ferule/tip because you can pound the daylights out of the cue ball and not have to worry about a tip failure. (I believe I heard that the tip on the bungee is about $40 cdn, so you don't want to go through too many of them. ) In my opinion, the sledgehammer is not fancy (no points, etc.) but its very well made. If I had the chance to get my money back and buy something else, I'd say no.
Having said that, I haven't tried the other cues you mentioned.

Received your pm. I am gonna wait a bit to decide the value difference between spending 300.00 or so for the Sledgehammer, and around 130.00 or so for the BJB, Lucasi2000JB. Its not so much about the money, but I want to see the value of each cue. If I get the same results with the lower, I will purchase them. I am not one to carry around a piece of equipment for the name only. Well, maybe in golf :)

That is exactly what I would suggest you do. Try em all and see what works best for you. Take into account all the pros and cons of each cue. Educate yourself and make an intelligent decision.
