Purple heart refinish

I sent my cue out to be fixed and refinish by the original maker. Long story short this is the end result. I received a email saying he has never seen this happen before in the 30 years he's been building cues, thank you for your business.. Can anything be done about the color mismatch ? Looks like its my problem now if I want it to match.

Looks like he only did a partial strip and the new finish didn't bring out the color.

Ph may darken with age and uv exposure. The finish may inhibit the uv.

Personally, I'd ask him exactly what the process he used was and explain that it isn't acceptable.

Thank for the reply, the problem is he has refinished it 2 times now only the bottom half for some reason in 2023.It had developed clear coat bubbles so I sent it back a couple weeks ago for him to look at. He refinished it again and put the wrong year date on it sent me a laughing emoji when I asked about it and sent me a dark picture from 2023 where it appears to be the same color because it was blended well. told me something must of happened to it while I had it. I believe it's unexpected but what can you do? Do I need to remove the clear coat before attempting to change the color with heat or UV light?

Depends on the clear coat, but likely will need to be stripped.

Don't use heat, and uv isn't guaranteed to help. I believe that air exposure helps because some darkening of woods is oxidation.

Remove everything and start from scratch like a new cue.

It was made in 95. This is a picture from April this year. And what it looked like when I sent it to the cue maker. Its not my regular shooting cue so it never leaves that spot. Just a example of a future Hall of fame cue makers early work. I never said anything about the finish wearing off like the email says. it had little bubbles in the clear coat near the bottom. It was slightly discolored from the whole cue not being refinished originally. The original signature and date on it from 95 was untouched until the second refinished.
