Hi everyone,

What do you think about the purple heart shaft?

Thank you.

Richard

Yeah, I saw a jump/break with one the other day and am curious myself...I would think it would be too soft. What is everyones opinion or are you cuemakers going to clam up?

They have a very different feel from maple and I would think most people would be reluctant to make the switch...I've shot with them and wouldn't prefer it.

I believe one of the cues Corey Deuel recieved from Jacoby has a purple heart shaft, although I am not sure if he plays with it.

They are very stiff, very rigid, heavy and a little rough.
Hi Joey,

Do they make good jump/break shafts in your opinion?

Also, are they stable?

Is there anything special about their preparation?

Thank you.

I think they're too heavy for b/j'rs.
I just don't see anything wrong with a good 14 MM maple shaft.

purple heart jump shaft.

Richie Ruthven used to make RT custome cues, He made me a purplr heart shafted jump cue, it jumped like no ones business. I had a frog jump cue at the time and threw it in the trash. Other than a goofy looking dark shaft, it worked like a charm.

Purpleheart is solid. There is no doubt about it. As a playing shaft, it hits really, really stiff. I'm not sure I'd want to play with it. But as a break or a jump shaft, it'd be a really smart choice. They are really solid hitting shafts!
A guy I know had one for a purpleheart Dave Hodges sneaky and it broke like a cannon! Perfect every time.

I've used a Mark Bear jump cue with a purple heart shaft and it was amazing. I ordered one immediatelly. I don't think it would be ideal for a playing cues though. Not for me anyway...
