Purpleheart lovers

Hey Bruce,

From what I have seen, Andy's cues are very reasonable compared to other great cuemakers. I'm sure it's up there in price but for that kind of workmanship and detail I wouldn't be surprised if it were a little less than you might think.

That's a nice cue, I was looking at it last night myself. I do find the ringwork a little bulky, but definitely special...

IMHO, the complex ring work draws attention away from the beautiful purpleheart wood and points. Too many rings stacked on each other IMHO. Still, the cue looks gorgeus with the purpleheart, I bet it'd look much better viewed in real life.

That is always the case with cues: they look ten times nicer in person than on some webpage.

I do think that real photographs with good lighting can add alot to a cue's appeal online. I think those scanned images really hurt the seller unless potential buyers are acutely aware of the discrepency.

This is an example of a good picture, imo: http://www.classiccues.com/graphics/cues/574_fore_hi.jpg

Now, that's a good picture ! Reveals the maple much better. I don't know, I seem to prefer some kind of light reflection on the surface of the finish and also some reflection from the wood surface. Makes the cue come alive. Even though the reflection might cover some minor details... Also, a good background color makes the cue looks even better. Well, I'm not a photographer so I don't know squat about photographing. Maybe someone with more knowledge will share his/her insight ?

If you want to see IMO the BEST cue photography there is, check out this thread that shows some of the John Madden cues pics, both finished cues and unfinished cues.

Look real close, there is white inlaid into white, in the rings and the diamonds. I never saw anything like that. I do agree that they appear bulky.

I did notice that, and I think there's some very thin silver bordering those inlays.

Andy's cues has some pretty unique design elements, for instance the short ivory joint collar paired with an equal-length black phenolic ring underneath. I think this makes even normal-sized rings appear larger in scale.

I like more traditional, conservative cues but I think his design innovations is very commendable. I like a cue that you can recognize from across the room (if you know what you're looking for), and not have to walk up and read the signature. Ginas, Tads, Zylrs come to mind as well...

Why would you continue to bring something up that shows your ass? I would think someone who is trying to represent someone’s business would try to lay low and put forth a positive and intelligent persona to increase sales. You seem to want to force issues and try to bait people into an argument that has died. Grow up Joe.

Jim,
Shut up. For a dead arguement, you have no problem injecting it into every one of your posts.. You would think in your profession, you would know what dead is.

Also, learn sarcasm..

Hey Joe I'm not here pretending to be some sort of expert on cue issues representing someone's business, what I do and what you SHOULD do are two very different things. You may disagree with me on a personal level but when you want to add that tag line you should act a bit more professional. BTW Don't wory bout me and sarcasm, I do ok with it.Jim
