I just got a purpleheart titlist and was wondering who everybody thinks does the best conversions?
Anybody know if Bob Frey has done them?
Also how does one tell the age of a titlist by label?
Thanks

I was told to go with Jerry R.

Runscott has a great site:
http://oldsplice.homestead.com/HoppeCues.html

click on either the professional label or the titlist label for more details about which labels apply to which years.

No problem.

I just picked up a Willie Hoppe Professional myself. I have been endlessly researching these cues and have found that mine was made somewhere in 1941-1945 range.

I can't figure out the value of it because it seems to be pretty rare in that it doesn't have the brass joint collar like the other willie hoppe pros. It has a black phenolic linen collar because so much brass was going to the WWII effort.

The only other ones I have seen like this are:
1) Tank had one converted.
2) Mr. Hoppe seems to have one on one of his racks.

Oh well, I dont know what to do with it. Just kinda stumbled upon it and picked it up off craigslist pretty cheap.

Take a look at this conversion:

also, do an advanced search on titles only for Hoppe, or titlist, conversion...you should get some great info.

good luck with yours.

I have been looking for a purpleheart titlist for some time and once i seen this one closeup it even has a little curl to it. I hope it turns out good. This one was a ebay purchase at what im sure was more than your craigslist find.

-R- Is A Great Option!

Hi, I've had Jerry do several cues for me and I know of many restorations of older and more intricate and valuable cues that he has done a super job at restoring.

I would tell you that Jerry is perhaps the BEST restoration guy living today and has done probably more conversions than anyone else.....he's a very approachable fellow and he LOVES what he does!

JERRY RAUENZAHN is IMHO your best choice for converting this cue! :)

Let me know and I'll be happy to hook you up with -R- ;)

JJ and krbsailing thanks for info about Jerry R. Any idea what he charges to do a basic conversion?

I am sure his work load is very heavy, but if you would be interested in getting Andy Gilbert to to do it,his work is excellent. He just recently did one for my son and it was awesome.
