I just bought a Model-B and am looking for information on a qc toolpost. Is the AXA style/size too big? I know the ones for the mini lathe are very small and will probable not work for the application. Has any one tried to mount a qc post on a Model-B? If so what size did you use?

John,

I thought the AXA size was the smallest QC tool post available, except for some of the Chinese knock-offs.(possibly)

Do a search. Arnot posted on this about a year ago. He's using a Phase II Aloris type ABA. I bought the same set from Enco. Requires a spacer and appropriate T-slot nut.

I found that my Model B worked a lot better when I threw away tool post that came with it and replaced it. Everything was more solid. I replaced mine with an Aloris type: Phase II - Stock Number 250=111. Try this link at MSC: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...MT4NO=33624757. It has worked fine for over 13 years.

I made a steel spacer that is 2.5 x 2.5 x .666 for it to fit properly.

Good Cuemaking,

So it is an axa. Thanks Arnot. I am considering mounting a compound off of a mini lathe to the table on the model-b Also. I like the fine adj. of the compound. Thanks again all.

I chunked my stock toolpost on the model B and got 2 sets of the QC , for the extra toolholders ... Luv it ... made a spacer out of fortal . Got the proper length allen bolt for the T nut and haven't looked back ... The Phase 2 is good ... Also the aluminum set is good also , about 1/3 the price of the Phase 2 . I've seen them on Ebay, but at your own risk there. Little Machine Shop sells the Phase 2 ... Good luck ...

Ted Haris also switched his over to a quick change, years ago. For any who have the standard tool post and don't ever plan to use them, Can I have them? Doesn't hurt to ask.
