Q1,Q2:

Taiwanese Rule First Two Qualifiers

Former World Pool runner-up Chang Pei-Wei beat Victor Arpilleda of the
Philippines in a thrilling match to rule Qualifier 1. With the score standing at
6-6, Chang took three racks in a row to seal his place in the main draw of the WTBC.

The second qualifier featured an all-Taiwanese finale. Chang Yu-Lung
dominated compatriot Li Po-Hsien 9-4 to take his own spot in the WTBC.
From a 2-2 count, Chang stormed ahead and allowed Li only two more racks.

A cash prize based on a percentage of daily entry fees is also awarded to the
winner of every qualifier.

A total of 73 players hailing from Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, France,
Norway, Indonesia, India, the United States and the Philippines took part in
day one of the qualifying round.

Eight more qualifiers are set up to Saturday, September 27. Two qualifiers are played per day.

Star Billiards Center, one of the finest billiards facility in the world, has served
as venue for WPA world championships for three years running. It is owned
by billiards patron Sebastian Chua, treasurer of the Billiards and Snooker
Congress of the Philippines.

Filipino, Taiwanese Book Seats in WTBC

Three Taiwanese players and one Filipino booked themselves seats in the
WPA World Ten Ball Championship in the ongoing qualifiers at the Star Billiards
Center in Quezon City.

Arnel Bautista of the Philippines took top honors Wednesday in Qualifier 3 by
beating Chu Hung-Ming of Chinese Taipei 9-3.

In Qualifier 4, Wang Kuo-Pin nipped Lu Hui-Chan 9-7.

In Thursday?s action, the Taiwanese players, who number the most in the
qualifying round, dominated.

Lai Chia-Hsiung defeated Kazuo Furuta of Japan 9-3 to take Qualifier 5.

In the final match Thursday, Fu Che-Wei beat Lu Hui-Chan 9-6.

So far in the qualifying round, the Taiwanese have taken five qualifier spots
and one Filipino player has won the sixth spot.

Format and Schedule

THE inaugural WPA World Ten Ball Championship will be played out over seven days, beginning on Monday, September 27, and concluding on Sunday, October 5.
