Quality/Value of Cues- Predator

Hmmm............ I posted an inquiry last Tuesday morning; to date, 156 folks have looked at it and nobody has responded. Please tell me if I am in the wrong subforum!!
Anyway, I've decided to post a second cue that I inherited. I can tell that it is a Predator, but otherwise I know little about it. Does anyone have an opinion whether or not this is a good cue? If so, how good. It seems immaculate to my eyes. Thank you! (and again, please let me know if I'm in the wrong subforum)

Sometimes folks will ignore new members who:

1. Don't use the search function

2. Ask questions that have been previously asked. See #2.

3. Sign up just to ask the value of something they have.

4. Sign up just to sell stuff.

5. Combination of #3 & #4.

6. Post For Sale threads disguised as price inquiries.

7. Don't contribute or haven't contributed to the forum.

Best of Luck,
Keith

Keith, Thank you very much for the frank input. It's not my intent to sell these cues (though I'm not an experienced player, the gentleman from whom I inherited the cues was and was a dear friend; I plan to keep some and share others with his other friends.). But I do understand your points and I will take them to heart and no longer inquire along these lines. (I do wish I could contribute usefully to the conversations, but I don't feel that I have sufficient experience to do so.) Thanks again.

Beautiful cue! I don't like the specs of current Predator cues because the ones they make today have butts with small diameters. The modern trend is to make the butts thinner and thinner. You can check out current prices for Predator cues and kind of see where your cue falls in the price line up. The more expensive cues in the Predator lineup have "points" and other fancy inlays.

The shaft is a modern, low deflection shaft, which is what most players play with nowadays. The successor to that shaft is the 314-3, which you can read about on Predator's website. Seems like a pretty nice cue and shaft. Of course, the new trend is carbon shafts, so a wood, low deflection shaft may become obsolete.

I looked on Predators website, and this may be your cue:

Model 2K-2 - Introduced in 2000 - $545

I don't know if that price includes a shaft or not (I think it does). The 314-3 shafts are currently selling for about $300. You would need to roll the cue on a pool table, or better yet a granite countertop, to see if it's warped or perfectly straight. If the shaft or butt is warped that would diminish the value of the cue.

Here's an old for sale ad for the same cue as yours: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/predator-2k2-cue-good-cond-w-moori-tip.20206/

I would pay $400 for the cue--if:

1. The diameter of the butt was between 1.27-1.30 inches.
2. Everything was straight.
3. There were no dings in the finish.
4. The end of the butt wasn't beat up (scratches, dings, etc)

That should give you a floor on the value.

It's most certainly a 5k2. On their website for retired cues, the 5k2 looks orange, but the real cue looks identical to yours, I had one myself. Good cue, nothing fancy. Played mine with one of the rare 314-2 FAT shafts. I loved the weight and balance of the butt. Unfortunately I opted to make it a wrapless cue (with a wood sleeve) and it later developed a rattle (bad craftmanship I guess). If I had gone for a leather wrap the cue would still be mine I guess.
