Quentin Corner Pocket in Palatine, IL at 755 N. Quentin Rd., hosted a $300 added, race to 7 on the winners and 5 on the losers, 9 ball tournament on Saturday, February 9, 2008. A total of 28 players were in attendance with 2 women players and one up and coming junior player, Jonathan Filipski.
Marlon Angeles went through the field undefeated to claim the hot seat. He defeated Lori Nishimoto 7-2, Pons Cruz 7-4, Eric Hoeft 7-2, Chuck Ferrara 7-6, and then Henry Brodt 7-3.
Neal Jacobs and Eddie Balderas duked it out on the losers side to place in the money. Neal won that set 5-1 to advance to the 4th place spot. Neal ended losing his next match to Gil Hernandez and ended up in 4th place.
The 3rd place match was between Gil Hernandez and Henry Brodt. Gil had won his first 3 matches and Henry won his first four matches before they got knocked into the losers bracket where they met for the second time. Henry was victorious once again and made it to the finals to face Marlon.
The final match only went one set with Henry winning the first one. Marlon and Henry decided to split the prize money for 1st and 2nd place.
