Now im thinking of building a cheap lathe to clean shafts, my question is about the chuck. i would like to have a cheap small chuck like this one -->http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=4486
on it and a cheap 1/3hp motor that i would connect a foot pedal for a variable speed option. my questions is how would i connect the chuck to the motor or is there another more efficient and effective way of doing this or should i just buy a different type of chuck. remember im not trying to build a cue building machine or a expensive lathe. thanks!

I got a couple of these laying around
The shank unscrews from the chuck
Some kind of fine thread if I remember right

You could probably get a machine shop to chop the shank down, drill and tap it for the threads on the end of the motor shaft. If the motor shaft doesn't have threads, I'm sure they could machine threads on it or make an adapter for you.
