I currently use a Duofast wide crown electric stapler. I decided to try the air stapler from Harbor freight. Even though it also says it's a wide crown stapler up to 1/2 inch it only fits 3/8 inch crown staples. My question, is it ok to use 3/8 inch crown staples when recovering? One of the main reasons i'm trying the air gun is that the Duofast is hard to fit in tight spots sometimes, like the side pockets.

It should'nt hurt anything but if your installing a worst wool like simonis i would shoot staples closer than usual.

I also switched from the duo-fast to the harbor freight air stapler but have never stopped using the duo-fast 5000 series staples. The lesser grades of cheaper staples usually bend the legs of the staples when shooting them into oak on Diamond tables.
I have had good luck with the hf stapler but the one I got accepts the very same staples as the duo-fast?

Mine says wide crown but it actually only accepts 3/8 inch crown staples. I googled it and lots of other people had the same problem. The gun works great though.
The OLD 1/2 wide crown staple gun accepts DUO-FAST 1/2 crown staples. Gray body smaller frame. This gun is no longer carried at harbor freight.
The NEW wide crown staple gun they sell now is silver/gray with red trim and that does NOT accept the DUO-FAST 1/2 crown staples. It does however use the T50 staples that can be found at Home Depot and Lowes.

Correct. I was shocked at how well this new one worked for only $20.
