Hi all,

Does anyone know these guys and what do you think about them???

From Concord NH Ken Tewksbury (The Viper) Billiard Science.
From Waltham MA Bob LaBlanc Also the house pro for Gillians.
From Nashua NH Dick Gaudette.
From Billerica MA Tom McGonagle.

I Know from my own experience Tom is a good instructor.

Thanks

Pete

I took two lessons from Bob LeBlanc at his house in Waltham. I think he helped me a lot. He identified some flaws in my stroke, gave me a good pre-shot routine and a very basic stop shot drill to work on. He also covered some ideas on aiming and different bridges.

After the official 1 hour lessons, he spent some of his own time just shooting a couple of racks of 9 ball with me.

I've been working on what I learned for a few months now and feel that I'm almost ready for another lesson. :) I've combined what I learned from Bob with some tapes (Robert Byrne, Accu-Stats) and my game is definately stepped up a few notches. Although, from where I was, that's not saying much! If you haven't already checked it out, he does have a web site: http://www.poollessons.net/

Yes.

Ken is pretty good, but it depends on your level. When I took lessons from him it was helpful, but I don't think it would be now. I'd say I'm a steady 'C' player for point of reference. A friend of mine who I'd say is a 'B' took a lesson from him and was quite disappointed.

I found Bob to be one of the most helpful instructors I've had, but again it depends upon your level. By the time I stopped going to me he had basically given me all he could. The nicest thing is he loves to play. I'd take lessons in his basement, I'd pay for an hour and then depending on his available time we'd play for a couple of hours afterward. The play afterward was supposed to be without instruction, but he'd slip up occassionally and throw some in.
From Nashua NH Dick Gaudette.
I tried to contact him, he has moved away from the Northeast.
From Billerica MA Tom McGonagle.

Know nothing about Tom, but I would also throw Ron Tocci name in the ring. He is an old pro from Nashua, NH and I hear he is a good instructor.
Can you tell me more about Tom?

Well I think Tom is a fine instructor, speacializes in 9 ball though. He really shows you how to play 9 ball like a 9 ball player. I found at my level (I can just beat the 6 ball GHOST), he has really helped to simplify the game for me. And I feel I really click with what he has to offer.

But as with all instructors, it really is a matter of what you can get from them. The only thing I will say though, is that if an instructor tells you that they where or are a semi pro player, they should be able to do a break and run out in front of you once in a while. I won't say who, but on the list of instructors I mentioned (and I went to him for almost 2 whole years every other week), he never once broke and ran out in front of me. And I think we must of played 500-800 games of 9 ball...

Do you remember by any chance Tom's rate.

Tom's speed

I played Tom in race to 9 and he ran out 5 racks. The same week, in a Joss tour match, he lost 9-8 to Ruberto.

Don't forget, Tom works a full time job. He doesn't get that much time to work on his game these days...
