Question about linen?

I'm aware of the different kinds of wraps out there but what is the best brand of linen out? Quality wise or most used by cue makers? And where can I get it? I'm looking for pricing on white with brown speck linen for my cue.

As far as I know the old timers all used Cortland. When I was at Black Boar we used Cortland and another brand whose name eludes me. The off brand was more difficult to work with in my opinion and I believe from brand to brand they'll have different diameters and number of strands. You may end up having to buy an entire spool of the stuff though if you go shopping for it. I've been out of the business for many years but that's my recollection of working with linens.

After Cortland quit making linen suitable for Cue wraps, a company in Alabama called Blue Mountain made the best Irish Linen for many years. They are now out of business. I have several rolls left and almost all the linen wraps I do on cues are with Blue Mountain.

I only wrap cues with it, I do not sell the material.

Blue Mountain Industries

Too bad they burned down. Looks like they cleaned up the rubble but left the sign.
