Question about "penetration style" stack wraps

Although I've looked at quite a few stack wraps, both online but especially on some beautiful cues, I have a question about how one would go about preparing the leather for a special "penetration style" wrap. If I wanted to produce one that was totally special, with various colors that remain quite distinct, what is the best way to do that? Say tan in one area, deep red next to that, and black further down, with the colors alternating randomly. Any suggestions? Flex
