question about replacing balls after foul

i am from the US so i am without the benefit of club protocol so i have a question for you. is there a difference between pro and amateur rules as far as replacing the balls after a foul. let's say your opponent hits a dreadful foul and 10 reds are moved and you want to put him back in but it would be impossible to replace all the balls to their original position. what do you do?

I'm not really sure what you're getting at but I'd say everyone but pros should play the balls from where they land.

If you're wondering whether the 'miss' rule should be applied to the amateur game, I'd say forget it. Obviously, you have the option of putting your opponent back in if you don't like how he left the balls after a foul, but to try and reset the balls is a disaster in making on many levels.
