Question about the cueball on the break

was just watching a match between danny harriman and earl strickland. Harriman smashed the balls on the break causing the cue ball to jump and it came down very close to his cue. What is the rule if the cue ball jumps and hits the players cue when it comes down? is it play at it lies or something else?

How could anyone ever conceive of it not being a foul? Why? Because it wasn't intentional? The real question is in the second part ---what to do with the cue ball. It depends on the game you're playing and how cue ball fouls are handled. Also, this could be considered an unsportsmanlike foul, which in 14.1 could give the shooter BIH behind the head string. What's the unsportsmanlike part? Hitting it that incredibly hard and then not moving your cue out of the way.

I was watching a nine ball match at the Cue Club in Las Vegas. It was a Shark/Fish match. The Shark broke, had a tremendous, long follow-through and actually touched the cue ball which was way up in the air while bouncing back. Fish said nothing so the foul was condoned. Of course it's a ball in hand foul, if noticed and called.
