I've been checking out Titlists for I while and notice that a lot of sellers won't even take a guess to what wood is used in their Titlist. But from the ones that do list the wood, it seems they used just about every medium dark to ebony colored wood out there. One has to wonder how sure you can be about the exact wood used in a particular one. To add to the list I'm pretty sure I've seen Goncalo Alves mentioned aswell.

Oak

I have some Oak Titlists.

It is my preference. I know that ebony is "rare" in titlists but I believe that there are plenty.

Titlists were also made frequently from "Ipe" also known as brazilian walnut. Some other names used were ( Brazil), Amapa, cortex, Guayacan, Flor Amarillo, Greenheart, Madera negra, Tahuari, Lapacho negro. Ipe has a number of trade names: Ironwood™, Pau Lope™ & Brazilian Walnut... these are commercial names given to Ipe lumber by large Brazilian exporters.

note: some of these trade names for ipe lumber, include not only Ipe wood, but also a number of other similar species like cumaru (Dipterix odorata) and jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata). Info off of the WEB for wood sources searching for "Ipe wood".
