with the recent unveiling of tim scruggs' phantom cue which has been billed as the ultimate players cue i was wondering how would other builders build their ultimate players cue, im not interested in the price of such a cue just the materials used and the specs of the cue what taper, joint, pin, tip etc...

I think most cue builders try and build the ultimate playing cue every time. But what some people think is the best hitting and playing cue ever built, others hate it and would quit playing if they had to play with it.
My oppinoin on the ultimate playing cue would be Ebony and Ivory, nothing else in the butt. This would make it weigh more, but would produce a very solid hit.
I play with a solid ebony cue, Ivory butt, joint, and spears in forearm handle and butt running both directions. Spears are mainly for decoration. Ivory ferrule, and 13 MM Talisman WB hard tip. This cue has no weight bolt and weighs 22 OZ. All natural weight, and absalutely 0 vibration.

yeah i agree that cue builders do try to build the best hitting cue everytime but some times they have build to the specs of the customer and that could either hinder or help the cue. the reason i ask the question is i am not really concerned with looks, i am just trying to get a general feel for how i want my next cue to be built. like what wood combination would be the best, would they use birdseye, curly or straight grained maple for a sneaky forearm or would their ultimate playing cue even be a sneaky.
