Question For Cue Makers

I have a Mc Dermott cue. I like the solid feel of the original shaft, but I also have predator 314 shaft which I like the taper it has on it. I would like to know how I can achieve the solid feel that the original shaft has with the Predator shaft. Will I have to change the ferrule on the predator and put a dowell in it to make it feel solid. If so how I go about this procedure. If I could just achieve that solid feel with the predator shaft I would feel great. Also if I put the original shaft in a Lathe and sanded it down would that change the taper on the original shaft, can I get less deflection with the original shaft by sanding it down and putting on a shorter ferrule.

Yes to all of the above but I don't think the two shafts will ever play the same, If you plug the Predator it will most likely feel more solid but it will also add the deflection back.

Mr Webb

Thank you for the reply Mr Webb. So should I just sand the original down or Plug the predator. I really want a shaft with a solid feel but not a lot of deflection. What is the best way to go.

Personally, I would leave the Predator alone, When you sand the original, make sure it spins true, you may have to face the joint.
Good Luck

OB1's hit pretty good.

As far as hit anyway with little deflection.

You can get Mr. Mike Webb to make you a shaft, if he inclines.

I used to play with 314 and OB-1. I'm currently playing a lot with Mike Webb cue and can adjust to it easy. It has minimal deflection and very solid feel. I have some custom cue shafts that I can't play with due to deflection and feel but with Mr. Webb's cue, it hasn't been a problem.

Thank you Jazz, By the way, your vacation is exactly where I want to go one day.
