Question for snooker players

Not really. The side you put on depends on the direction of the nap. Playing running side seems wrong, but it works against the nap. Check side is used playing with the nap.

Depends on the speed you hit it.

But that's exactly why I like it. It requires extra skills. It's the feel. It's the responsiveness. It's got life. And if you don't change it, it ends up like bland pooltable cloth anyway.

It doesn't require extra skills, it just requires you to hit the ball differently if you're shooting against the nap.

At the end of the day this guy is going to the lengths of providing some real space, sourcing and importing a real table from a real foreign country, and purchasing real accessories and real equipment to go with it. The last thing he wants to end up playing is a game almost like real snooker.

Hopefully one day the entire snooker world will realize that their cloth is inferior and make the change. Ulikely but it sure would be nice.

There is a 12' table for sale in San Jose that was used in the USA tourney this year. I heard they wanted $4500. You should check out the USA Snooker site for details.

All those tables are gone. I appreciate all the information guys. I have learned some good information from this thread. Picked up some good tips for playing on a napped cloth. My options are importing a steel block table from over seas or I can purchase a used Dufferin from Canada. A used Riley just sold for 2750 on ebay today. I just finished playing 13 frames on my 9 footer. My wife is sound asleep and I am headed to the chess server!

Best regards,
