Question on break cues/shafts

My playing cues are Lucasi's with the Uni-Loc joint. I wanted to get a Predator BK2 break stick but was wondering if just using a BK2 break shaft on my Lucasi butt (since they both have the same joint) would perform as well as the BK2 butt/shaft combo. Just trying to save a little money. Does the butt actually affect the playability (of any cue) or is playability mostly determined by the shaft and tip? Thoughts?

I like to think the butt of a Cue is also a piece of the puzzle. No amount of beautification will make a difference, but the butt does give a cue a certain feel. The diameter of the grip, the wrap or no wrap , the length & the weight (pertaining to linear balance) can make a great deal of difference.

I once had a cue & two kinds of shafts.... I didn't have that combination long!

Cues can be like a woman... if you find a good one, keep it for awhile. Don't change it or dispose of it, looking for a better one, that may never happen.

Good Luck...
