Question on Sneaky Pete choice

Been doing a little reseach on which Sneaky Pete I want to try and I was wondering if anyone out there had one of the choices I'm looking at and have actually played with them. Please describe the feel, etc. By the way, I have a new Viking stick, so I wanted to try something different.

Action (ACT41): price $47 Le pro tip
Lucasi (L-2000SP): price $119 Triangle tip (I think)

Since I'm basically wanting a stick to treat a little rough at my friend's pool hall (leave it there, spilled beer and boiled peanuts on it, with the occasional kid grabbing it), I did not want to invest in alot of money.

sneakies

If you try a $47 stick, it will hit like it is $47.

If you are going to mistreat a stick to begin with, buy a cheapy, just don't expect much from it. Be better buying a 1 piece stick for about $25.

If you want a good Sneaky Pete, and the good ones can play like a $700-$1,000 stick, you will have to pay at the top of the line for a Sneaky Pete.

I have never found or saw a better Sneaky Pete than the one I use and play with (my break stick basically). It is from Shurtz custom cues in Wichita, Ks.
(www.shurtzcues.com or (316)269-3844 and ask for Bob) .

$160 for wood to wood
$170 for hard plastic joint
$190 for stainless steel joint (which I have)

Hey Scot,

Just an update on the link. There is no "s" at the end in case someone gets confused.

I bought an Action. Cost me $80 but it is great.
Got a Predator this week with z shaft so Action may be gone.

I like the dufferins alot too but they have european tapered shafts on thier sneaky's, i would recommend a Falcon, $80 with a pro taper shaft. I prefer not having a stainless joint as i prefer wood to wood or a phenolic joint. You want the best? Scruggs or Fry are the best. Actually i kinda like the 3 piece action sneaky's too.

Ted Harris makes a fine s/p, too.

ive got an old meucci 95-1 sneaky thats always shot great.alot of the guys around here like the joss sneakys, havent shot with them. I do know i like the wood to wood joint sneakys, and you might want to try out different ones, to me the 3/8 or southwest style pin doesnt have as good a feel as a shaft with a brass insert.

long ago,,,the best meuccis i ever played with was their sneaky petes. played with 3 of them.....and you won't get construction issues aswith their more pricier cues

axiom cue

I bought a Axiom cue and I believe it is one of the best cheap sneaky pete sticks out there. You might have to go to a few websites to find somebody selling one, I saw on for 47 dollars online today. Everybody here will tell you to spend $8000 on a sneaky pete just go buy something cheap and I feel that the axiom or maybe one out of Varner's line are the best out there for not a lot of money.

For the price, i always recommend the Action SP, i think the cheapest one you can get is like 45$. In my area guys who either want a cheap break cue or playing cue they can beat the crap outa and not worry about damaging a 400$ break cue, go and buy the Action SP. Another note, the shaft on the action cues is actually very good.
