I have a year 2000 SW it is black ebony and 6 solid ivory points no lamenents a very basic looking 6-point cue the points are razor sharp and match up pefectly in length, The wood is solid black no gran of color anywhere on the cue, I believe it had A &B or A,B,C rings, its at my other house then I could give exact spects,i'm working on memorie , 2 shafts that weigh the same, 1" ivory ferrels, the butt is ebony. Despite being such a hard wood with no lamenents and solid points its a soft hitting SW which is unusal because most of their cues hit hard. It dosent make a ping sound when you hit he ball either. I dont remember what I paid Laurie for it, i'm not selling it. It defies logic it should be the hardest hitting cue around considering the ebony and ivory but ti isnt, it has a nice touch. But if you need to stun a ball its right there too. its a good balance of finess and power.

my question is whats the market value on a SW with Ivory points?, the wrap is Irish Linen, I have played a good bit with the cue but there are zero scratches or dings in it, the shafts are slightly discolored-I never let my shafts get black. They only make a handful of these kinds of cues, I knew Jerry for years and live in vegas that how I even got to buy it. I asked her in 2000 to buld me another one I havent got it yet, hopefully i 'll get a call someday.

Whats your opinion of value?

Ivory Point Sw

You could probably find someone to pay $5-6k for it. I have two ivory point SWs with A&B rings from 2000. 418 00 Cocobolo and 424 00 Gaboon Ebony.

Hi.

Is this the cue you are talking about? I liked it so much, I saved the pictures from when it was listed on eBay a number of years ago. If I recall correctly, this one went to 5000.00, but did not meet the reserve. If it is still in nice condition, I would say it would be worth at least that today.

I remember reading an ebony and ivory cue was the first one built in 2000. I think it was actually listed on www.pccues.com and was numbered 300-00. It's the only ivory-pointed one I can recall seeing off the top of my head.

I agree entirely about almost all Southwests being so similar, despite the wood combinations, hence the fact I have never owned one. I don't think I have seen another cue company that has built so many variations of the same design and has continued to maintain such apparently high demand for their product. Especially since, if I am not mistaken, they are not using any inlays in their cues anymore. In fact, at this point, I would be very surprised to see another company succeed the way Southwest has if they were to, essentially, market one design with only changes to the woods, rings and veneers. Southwest is definitely unique in that respect, in my opinion.

when i get back to Vegas in the next 3-4 days i'll look up the number on the pin and post it, i have had ALOT of SW cues over the years and they were all hard hitting cues, I had one made from tulip wood and macasser ebony wow that cue was a log it makes a "ping"sound every shot, when I ordered the cue like the one pictured above i never expected it be a useable cue, I figutred it would be to stiff, its the sofest htting SW i ever played with.

OK got someone who I could trust to take it out and shoot celphone pics of it.

its #370-00 it has rings at both ends of the wrap and only one ring at the butt cap, the one pictures above has 2 butt cap rings the are about 1" apart, i remember I liked it with the single ring because I thought 4 rings with the 2 being so close together made it look too ornate. so I only have 3 rings A/B and bottom of ivory butt cap. Other than that one ring its exactly like the one pictured above. I dont know how to post pics and these pics suck, some time i'll get proper photos and have someone help me post them.
thanks for the information.

Lauri is a great lady, I knew jerry very good too, i remember the EXACT day I first walked into their shop I wasnt living in Vegas at the time just passing through, It was my dads birthday 7-1-86, thats how I remember the date I ordered a cue and I got it the next May, Tulip wood with cocobolo points, i havent looked at that cue for a long time it hit the balls to hard for me, 2 shafts all for $350. It paid for itself in the first 2 weeks I owned it, i was in alot of action back then, Sacramento.
