Questions about upgrading shafts

Hello again AZBilliard peoples~

I am still relatively new to the game of pool but I did purchase my first cue several months back. I have begun to consider upgrading my shaft, however, I am not sure whether or not I should just purchase a brand new cue all together. I am currently using a Lucky cue by McDermott if that helps. My friends keep talking about how different shafts might not fit with the bottom half of my cue, so I am not sure what to do.
Does the bottom of a cue make a big difference? Or is the shaft more important?
If I can just upgrade the shaft, what can/should I upgrade to?

Oh and I apologize if this is in the wrong section x:

Right section, old topic hehe.

You're "lucky" that your Lucky cue uses a pretty common 3/8 x 10 thread that is also used by many good cue makers.

When I was in Vegas with my son, and I did not bring my cue with me, but had my shaft in my son's case. I bought a cheap Lucky cue from a vendor and use my shaft with it, fit fine and played mostly like my cue aside from losing some of the feel and a balance change.

Players HXT shaft is what I use, and it's about the only low deflection shaft I tried that I like. If you want to try a well made shaft with low deflection properties, try one of those. The fit of the pin and collar matched my Lucky cue very well. You actually are going about things the right way, find a shaft you like, then you can find the rest of the cue you like.

Oops, I suppose I should have done a search before asking haha for some reason I forget 99% of the time x_x thanks though!
