Sam, could I ask whether you did anything to promote your Greenleaf book (advertising, etc.)?

I have another project out (probably not of much interest here, it's a pool team results book designed to fit UK pool leagues) and was considering trying to give it a push.

I did a little when it first came out. I paid Amazon and Google to run ads based on keywords. But I only did it for a few days as it was expensive and I would have had to raise the price of my book by $4 to get to a break even point for the extra advertising. I didn't want to do that.

Posting here and on Facebook had a better ROI.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of trying influencers. I'll have a think about who might be good to try.

I've posted in a couple of facebook groups so far without any evident interest, but if I can do a paid ad that gets put in front of people who are members of their local pool league's group, hopefully that should reach my target audience. I'll have to see how far I can control how the ads are targeted.
 
I now have my first online influencer (sort of!)
When I was looking for facebook groups to advertise my pool team book, I stumbled on a UK billiards antiques group and posted about Mitchell. An old boy messaged me to negotiate, and we agreed on a cheap copy provided he posts about it in the group if he likes it.
I'm still thinking about candidates for my pool team book, but at least now I have a proof of concept!
 
Wow. My 'online influencer' just posted this with a link to my book (in a facebook group that doesn't allow people to post to advertise their own products in the conventional manner):

It looks like it's already driven 3 more sales (in one day). But what a guy! He knows far more about the book than I do!
(Also, I now don't believe a word of his haggling on price! :LOL:) I feel a little more proud to have brought the book back into circulation after that.

My facebook ad for my other book went live yesterday too. It's been viewed 900 times and seems to have driven two sales, which would be quite a big financial loss (relatively speaking - it's all cheap). I've also ordered some copies to distribute. There doesn't seem to be anyone in UK-pool specifically producing widely-viewed content (as far as I've found), but then again perhaps I'm setting my sights too high.

By coincidence, I'm currently reading 'Contagious' by Jonah Berger, a book about how ideas and products spread through word of mouth. It's lucky timing because it's all about this kind of thing.

I haven’t seen a copy. I’d like to. It’s a great part of history.😃💪

I spoke to Johnny he last spoke to Buddy about a month ago. I ran the book idea past him, he going to talk to Buddy about it next time they speak. He doesn’t speak with him often. I don’t know Buddy, I know Mike tho.
