Quilted Bubinga

I like the looks of it also, but when I ordered some it came in really wet. I would like to use it if it was kiln dried. One company on ebay advertised kiln dried and I asked if they could cut some 30" pieces for me and they said yes and informed me that it was dried to 14% humidity. I can't understand how they could possibly call that kiln dried. Bubinga dries down to 6 to 8% like maple. Bubinga plays nice so I would guess quilted would also, but beware of the moisture content when ordering.

I've got some real nice stuff that's quite dry. I'm making a cue out of a piece of it right now, and might be able to post a pic or 2 soon.
It's real nice to work with and is about as hard as bacote.

JoeyInCali has or had some beautiful Quilted Bubinga. He is currrently making me a cue with no inlays but some beautiful rings and staghorn joint and a leather wrap. When finished I will post some pic's. Under the leather wrap is a purpleheart handle.

That is a really nice looking cue. I'm a huge bocote fan but that is some nice looking wood.

Babinga dryness

Chris...read your comments on Babinga at 12% humidity. As a guy who makes his living following most of your advice I got a little confused. Is there a chance the vendor miss spoke. 12% humidity is really too dry. Maybe he ment moisture content, if so 12% moistrue would be a little wet but close. My underestanding is that most wood equilibrated at 40% humidity has a moistrue content between 6 to 10% depending on species. I've been countint on this as gospel and use my Delmhurst accordingly. If I'm screwing up please let me know.

Thanks for remaining so active. Always look forward to your advice and comments.
